In 2005, SMKW® President, Kevin Pipes, was personally touched by the Iraqi war when he learned of the death of a close friend's brother, David Randolph. He returned to Iraq as a civilian contractor to dispose of Iraqi missiles and bombs. The ex-Marine and former police officer was only 33 when his convoy was attacked near Fallujah.
In a conversation with Kevin prior to his return to Iraq, David expressed the need soldiers have for knives. So Kevin promised he would do what he could. To fulfill that promise, Kevin created “A Knife for a Soldier.” His goal was to provide soldiers throughout the world the tools they need. With support from inside the cutlery industry (leaders like, Buck, Case, Cold Steel, Colt, Combat Ready, Mykel Hawke Brands, Schrade, Victorinox and others), “A Knife for a Soldier” has reached over 15,000 American servicemen and women over the last seven years. Even so, the need for dependable knives continues.
With distribution help from Texas-based organization "Christmas for Our Troops," the cutlery industry is ready to help SMKW® supply even more knives to our troops around the world. This holiday season, help put a knife in the hands of a deserving U.s. soldier by choosing one of these donation amounts.
